John went off to buy a saddle, so Derek, Andy and I rode together.

We all took turns as front rider but most of the navigating was done by Derek and Andy - Andy made a first class job of navigating an off road bit through Leigh.

John joined us again at 45 miles picking our pace up a bit and we arrived in Clithero before 3:00pm.

It was an ideal day for cycling with the sun shining most of the day, the Northerley wind was on our nose for the first half of the day but it backed to North West giving us a tail wind for the last 5 miles.

There were seven climbs on the stage getting our legs into shape for the big one tommorrow.

We rode through more built up areas today but when you see how close we were to large towns and cities you would expect far more urban riding.

The climb up and over The West Pennines Moors was stunning and was a real treat after the last 2 days.

I have been out and purchased a handlebar bag as I am finding the great variation in temperature and terrain dictates anything between 1 and 4 layers on many days.

One of our peleton had yet more trouble with keys, he was entrusted with the key to the garage where we keep our bikes and is not quite sure where he left them.

All riders completed the stage safely.
