Wet all day with periods of very heavy rain, I would estimate over 25 mm fell during the ride - very cold up on the Dales.
My Gortex jacket kept my body completely dry but I was still grateful to soak in a warm bath at the hotel.
A very hilly course with five major climbs including a one mile 20% climb up Dent hill after lunch.
The relatively short couse was planned due to the gradient of the climbs - there was quite a bit of opening and shutting gates over the Dales - very steep descents were hard on the brakes.
We left Lancashire rode up over Boland Forest then up over North Yorkshire Dales and into Cumbria.
